When it comes to using what you buy, the very least you should do is rebrand DFY content to give it a new look and feel. The minimum you want to do is give it a new name, and a new look with new layouts and images so that it is indistinguishable from the original package.

Changing the content up is also a good idea, but for the purposes of this article we’re going to assume that you just want to publish it as is, with a new name and a new look.

Here are 4 reasons why it’s important to rebrand DFY content:

Reason #1: You want to stand out from all others who have bought the package

While it’s true that most DFY content vendors can sell anywhere from 100 to 500 or more copies of their packages, it’s also true that 95% of those people will do nothing with their purchase.

I’m assuming you are one of the 5% that are going to take action and get the content up and making money for you as quickly as possible! But, even if only a handful of people end up using the content you still want your version to stand out from the rest.

When you take the time to rebrand DFY content, you end up creating a whole new product. It will look different because it will have a new look and a new title. Even if you don’t change the content, you are still creating a new product that should appeal to your audience if you’ve done it right.

The main takeaway here is that the last thing you want is to end up looking you’re your product is the same as everyone else’s.

Reason #2: You want to personalize the content

One of the best ways to rebrand DFY content is to personalize the content to add your own opinions, experiences, and research on the topic. After all, your are selling this under your brand so it’s important that even if the content wasn’t yours to start with, the rebranded version reflects you and what your audience expects from you.

The important point to remember here is that your audience views you as an authority. They respect what you have to say, and that’s why they follow you and ultimately buy your products.

When you personalize the content, you also have the opportunity to create income opportunities within the content. Use affiliate links to promote your recommended partner offers. Or, if the rebranded product is part of one of your own funnels, you can also use links within the content to lead your audience on a journey through your own funnels.

Reason #3: You want to create brand credibility with your audience

If you put DFY content up for sale without changing anything at all, it makes it hard for you to build credibility and authority with your community.

Think about this from your customer’s perspective:

If you are selling an ebook and someone googles the title looking for reviews, and a bunch of identical products from other vendors who up, that’s not going to give them a warm fuzzy feeling when it comes to you and your expertise.

We’ve all seen the sites where people sell unchanged PLR for below bargain basement prices, right? It’s hard to put your own value on a product that others are selling at such devalued rates.

And, chances are during that same search, the original PLR package might show up if you don’t at least change the name of your rebranded product. If that happens your prospective customer might decide to buy the PLR version and start selling it for themselves.

This is why you need to rebrand DFY content, so that you can put your own spin and value on it and build your own credibility and establish your own authority on the topic.

Reason #4: You can charge more when you rebrand

The whole point of buying DFY content is to make money from it, right?

When you take the time to rebrand and give a product a fresh, new look that fits with YOUR brand, you can charge more than the typical low dollar amounts that people tend to put on products created from DFY content.

The key to doing this really is changing up the graphics. Because it’s no big secret that a lot of DFY content vendors are great at writing, and not so great at creating graphics. In fact, the first thing I do when starting to work with a new DFY content package is delete all the graphics because I know I’m going to create my own anyways.

By the time I’m done with rebranding a package, it is usually unrecognizable when compared to the original, and I can charge more for it. I’ve done this with courses, training guides, and challenges in the past and not once did anyone ever say to me that they recognized the DFY content I started with!

Final Thoughts

I hope this gives you some food for thought on why it’s important to rebrand DFY content. It really will put you on a whole other level from the 95% that do nothing with their purchases, and even from most of the 5% that will take some action.

Sure, it’s easy to take a DFY product and sell it as is but turning it into something completely new will get you much better results and set you apart from the masses.
