5 Roadblocks That Can Stop You From Repurposing DFY Content

Whether you’re a beginner in the DFY content space or a seasoned veteran, everyone faces roadblocks along the way to repurposing DFY content. The key to success is to recognize them as they’re happening and take steps to move forward anyways.

Here are five common roadblocks that can stop you from repurposing DFY content:

Roadblock #1 – Technical Issues

Everyone – and I do mean every single one of us – has been bit by a technical issue at least once. It’s pretty much a given that when technology is involved, something is going to go wrong at some point.

The key to getting around this roadblock is educating yourself. Some of the things you need to learn are:

  • Setting up your website
  • Uploading your files
  • Creating graphics
  • Formatting your files

Whether you do all of this yourself or outsource it to a team member, you should still have a basic knowledge of what it takes to run your online business.

When it comes to learning, You Tube is your new best friend. There are so many tutorials available that will cover pretty much everything you need to get yourself up and running.

Roadblock #2 – You don’t have a plan

Another common obstacle that buyers of DFY content can face is that they have no plan for actually using the content. One of the most common things I hear when I ask people what they’re doing with their PLR is that they don’t know where to start.

The first place to start is to have a plan for how you’re going to use your new content. Even before you make the purchase, you should have at least a vague idea of what you’re going to do with it.

Roadblock #3 – You have trouble generating ideas

If you’re running out of ideas for your content, this can be a huge roadblock for you when it comes to repurposing DFY content. You may struggle to come up with new titles to rebrand your content. Or you may not have any idea on what new design to create for your graphics.

Spend some time researching your topic and see what others in your niche are doing. I’m not telling you to copy anyone but take a look around and pay attention to things like titles, graphics styles, book covers, etc. so that you have an understanding of what customers in your niche might want.

Roadblock #4 – You’re not sure what to rebrand

This is probably where I differ from most PLR users, because I believe in changing just about every single piece of content that comes in a package. At the very least you need to be getting new graphics made and changing up titles and covers if you’re trying to sell it as a product.

I also believe that you do need to change at least 50 percent of the content. The last thing you want to do is put something out that is exactly the same as everyone else who bought the PLR once you get past the cover.

For blog posts, you should be changing the title, the subheadings, and at least some of the content. When I first started using DFY articles for blogs and newsletters, I used to rewrite to 100% uniqueness. I don’t do that as much anymore, but I still try to change up a fair bit of it and give it my own voice.

Roadblock #5 – Budget issues

You might wonder what budget has to do with using DFY content, but one of the biggest roadblocks, especially for new users is that they just don’t have the budget yet to outsource things like graphics creation. There are ways around this with things like cover creators, Canva for social media templates, etc. and learning how to do things yourself for now.

Do what you can with the tools available to you, and then upgrade your graphics and anything else that needs it as you go.

Final Thoughts

I’m a huge fan of the saying that “done is better than perfect.” Do the best you can with what you have, but don’t let these common roadblocks hold you back from using DFY content in your business. After all, you’ve already purchased it… you can do something other than let it collect digital dust on your hard drive.
