One thing good content creators do is come up with creative ways to generate content ideas. Yes, it can be overwhelming to come up with content ideas when you’re starting in a new niche. But the ideas and topics are there to be had if you get a little creative in where you look for them.
The first step is ensuring that you know your audience and their needs, as well as your products and services. That information gives you a good starting point for creating informational, entertaining, and engaging content that meets your community’s needs.
Here are 7 creative ways to come up with content ideas for your niche:
1. Host a Live Q&A on Zoom or FB Live
Every question you answer on a live event can become an idea generator for a blog post, an eBook, or a product. This is an excellent way to figure out what your audience wants to know, and it lets them get to know you too.
2. Meet people at live events
Going to live events where your colleagues and audience members might also be is a great way to come up with ideas. Pay attention to what’s being said, listen more than you talk, and you’ll come away with lots of notes and ideas for new articles and products.
3. Join Facebook Groups
I know a lot of people see Facebook Groups as a time suck, but if you use them strategically, they can be a wealth of content ideas. Join FB groups that your audience joins. Become an observer rather than a spammer. Don’t go in there and ask them what they’re struggling with, people are tired of that. Instead, just watch which questions are asked. Read the answers. Both questions and answers are all good subjects for your content.
4. Read publications related to your niche
Magazines – whether print or online – are another excellent way to come up with content ideas for your niche. Take some time to know what the experts and influencers are saying about issues your audience might be facing and you’ll be able to generate content that speaks to your customers’ wants and needs.
5. Use AI tools to generate ideas
Using tools such as ChatGPT to generate content ideas is new, but is here to stay. You can create prompts yourself, or purchase a package of prompts like Kate Riley’s Mighty Prompts* to give you a shortcut to your content idea generation.
6. Spend time on sites like Quora and Reddit
On Quora, you can search for your niche and also sign up to answer questions as an expert. This is a great way to get content ideas delivered to you on a regular basis and also lets you know what your audience needs.
The same goes for Reddit, although you may need to spend some time digging around for the niche areas that apply to you.
7. Use DFY content as a starting point
One of my favorite ways to get ideas for content is to buy DFY content in the niches I create for. Blog posts, training, written and low-content printables are all great places to start generating content ideas. Use it as research material, or put your own spin on it and publish it for your audience.
Final Thoughts
There are many ways to generate content ideas and these are just a few of the ones I use on a regular basis. The main thing to keep in mind with all of these is that you will need to put your own spin on the ideas you come with, because no one else can serve your niche in the same way that you do.
