Happy Thursday!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel! I ended up spending almost the whole day yesterday running errands and working on tax stuff. But I’m almost done and so can see the light at the end. Of course, once I get the business stuff done I have to sit down and do my personal return too, but at least that’s a much quicker process.

That should all be done today, and then maybe things can get back to “normal” around here. My mind is going a mile a minute here with ideas and things I want to share with you in May, and I can’t wait to get started.

1. New Domain for Newsletters Coming May 1

NEW! Starting on Monday, May 1 this newsletter and all my other ones will be coming from a new domain. I’d been noticing that delivery rates were down, and a few people mentioned that all of a sudden my newsletters were landing in their spam box, so I went searching for a reason why.

Here’s what I found out…

And this is by no means a technical explanation of how email newsletters work, but just a general overview of how I think I’ve solved the problem.

In order for your emails to have a higher deliverability, you really need to have a verified sending domain. Especially if you send a lot of mail. ConvertKit actually recommends that if you don’t send at least 5k emails a month, then this could hurt more than it helps, but since I have a decent-sized list, I can reach that benchmark in a couple of days.

I do have a verified sending domain on my ConvertKit account because I do meet their criteria. But, and here’s where the issue starts, I have 3 different email newsletters I send out on a regular basis… and they all come from different domains. And after doing some investigating over the past couple of days, I found out that ConvertKit only allows 1 verified sending domain per account.

Ouch.

The obvious solution is to have 3 separate accounts, but that gets expensive. The other issue for me is that there is a ton of crossover between my 3 lists, and I didn’t want people to have to sign up three times. I want my people to be able to come and go as it meets their needs, and so by having everyone in one account and offering choices of whether to get one or both of my daily newsletters (see the bottom of this email) it’s so much easier for everyone.

My solution was to get a new domain and set up all of my current newsletters and any new ones I create going forward to mail from one central location. I don’t have it all set up yet, but it will be ready by Monday, and I’ll share the name with you then.

You won’t have to do anything at all on your end, except whitelist my new email address. Your subscriptions will stay the same and I’m hoping this will keep everything out of the spam folder.

2. New Steampunk Style Digital Papers

I put a new set of Steampunk Style Digital Papers in the shop this morning. This is the pack that I used in the demos for the bonus training for Mitzy’s course.
